SUCCESS STORIES

Trisiana: Hartford, CT

Trisana joined RiseUP in 2012 toward the end of her Junior year at Weaver High School in Hartford, CT. She joined RiseUP with a strong academic background but had limited access to individuals willing to help her achieve great things at the next level. With RiseUP’s help, Trisana planned and executed a city-wide community talent show during her senior year; bringing together multiple organizations, talented youth, and hundreds of spectators. Throughout her senior year, Trisana focused her time applying for scholarships for college and was awarded close to a full-ride to Quinnipiac University.

While currently at Quinnipiac, she has been accepted onto the Dean's List, is an active member in various campus organizations, and continues to stay involved with RiseUP’s community activities and mentors our current high school Scholars when back in Hartford during college breaks. She is preparing herself for a career in law and politics in order to help be an advocate for the less fortunate and the community that she was raised in.

Dain: Hartford, CT

Dain came to RiseUP as a senior at Weaver High School in 2012 and faced some extraneous circumstances, making college impossible to attend immediately after High School. Instead of giving up and turning to the streets, like so many others in his situation, Dain continued to remain positive and used RiseUP as an outlet to develop as a young man until college was a possible avenue for him.  Dain committed himself to his community by participating in RiseUP Community Days along with serving as a mentor for some of RiseUP younger Scholars.

During this time, Dain also utilized RiseUP’s network and support to build contacts and develop goals so that when the time came to advance his life situation he was ready to hit the ground running. Through the influence of RiseUP, in October of 2014, Dain’s green card was approved, enabling him pursue his career and academic aspirations. He recently accepted a full time job at CareCentrix allowing him to begin saving for his college goals and develop competitive job skills to prepare for the future.
