A coalition of volunteers in Putnam, CT have been eagerly working over the last 12 months to bring an MLK39 Racial Equity Mural to the community. The MLK39 Mural Steering Committee is excited to announce that funding goals have been met, the location for the mural is ready, the design is complete, and on June 20th the community is invited to the official mural reveal from 11:30-12:30PM at Hale YMCA Youth and Family Center located at 9 Technology Park Drive, Putnam, CT 06260. There will be speakers from the community discussing the importance of the mural and poetry readings and dance performances by area youth.
The mural is painted by internationally renowned and Putnam based muralist, Emida Roller.

This mural is the 15th mural on the MLK39: Racial Equity Mural tour led by RiseUP for Arts with the next mural being revealed on July 14th in Bristol, CT.
The Putnam MLK39 Steering Committee is a partnership between local community members, Town of Putnam, local businesses, the Hale YMCA Youth and Family Center, Northeast Arts Guild, and RiseUP for Arts/Northeast CT Murals. Funding for the mural project has come from generous sponsorships from Centreville Bank, Jewett City Savings, bankHometown, Sawmill Pottery, Weiss, Hale, and Zahansky, Newell Hale Foundation, Putnam Arts Council, and over 50 donations from individuals and organizations from the local community.
