Stamford Murals Launches with first mural in September!

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

Since January 2021, local Stamford artist Alissa Siegal has partnered with state-wide nonprofit, RiseUP for Arts, to launch Stamford Murals. Alissa has been meeting weekly with students from J.M. Wright Technical School and co-teacher Mary-Kate Chute via Zoom to discuss and explore mural making methods, collaborations, materials and styles, messaging, community, and place-making. The group has also had visits from working artists who shared their journeys and practices, and an art in the park field trip.

This first mural will provide momentum to paint more public art murals throughout Stamford, CT and include more youth, local artists and community members in the process.

Thanks to the generosity of Sustainable CT’s Community Match Fund, every donation to the mural program will be matched dollar for dollar by Sustainable CT. Stamford Murals goal is to raise $3,000 from at least 30 donors by Monday, September 6th.

Donations can be made at:

Be on the look out for the first murals that will be located along a building at 819 East Main Street and in Downtown Stamford.

The youth that participated in the program will receive a stipend for their contributions, and work alongside Lead Artist Alissa Siegal, and co-teacher and artist Mary-Kate Chute to paint the mural on site in September. Stay tuned for details on unveiling ceremony and more murals in Stamford.
