Launched in January 2021, local Stamford artist Alissa Siegal has partnered with state-wide nonprofit, RiseUP for Arts, to launch Stamford Murals.  Stamford Murals is a professional mural organization that services to nonprofits, communities, developers, and businesses throughout Fairfield County.

In addition to our professional mural services we also run youth development art programs for emerging artists in Fairfield County.

ABOUT ALISSA SIEGAL

Co-Founder and Director

Alissa Siegal is a working artist and arts educator. From 2017 through 2019, she created and led a visual arts program at a public charter middle school in Stamford CT. She continues to work with former students as a teacher, mentor, and collaborator. Most recently, Alissa painted a 110’ public mural at the entrance to Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center. The experience of installing the mural was so powerful that she is now committed to producing community based public art installations.

Alissa has a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art, is a past National Parks Artist in Residence, & a member of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County. Her work is realistic, colorful, and nature based. Her art is in private and public collections in the US, Europe, & Canada and can be purchased on our site or at alissasiegal.com

OUR FIRST MURAL:

"BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL"

Since January 2021, our team of artists have been meeting via Zoom to discuss and explore mural making methods, collaboration, materials and styles, messaging, community, and place-making. The group has had visits from working artists who shared their journeys and practices, and art field trips. Along with learning about murals, Alissa and the student artists worked together to create their own designs based on their shared history at Trailblazers Academy, the school our youth attended before it lost its city funding.

Thanks to continued perseverance, we connected with The WellBuilt Company to paint our first mural at 819 East Main Street in Stamford. The mural was revealed on November 6th with a celebratory block party to reveal Stamford's latest mural!
